naram, aka jose gonzalez, and i slugged it out in traffic to get into town while robins arrived by train after breaking not 1 but 2 fingernails that morning (just kidding his bike was broke), naram stayed with a friend near city center and robins and i stayed with robins' aunt judy and her husband john.. they were really nice and we had some great meals also.. i like sydney a lot more than i thought i would.. i had heard in melbourne that the entire city was very posh and non cultured but i found the opposite to be true.. lots of great cheap asian food and cool, diverse neighborhoods.. on one afternoon robins and i went to bet on some horse races.. robins bet $1 on a quinella and turned it into $40!! this was sufficient for us to have a night out and buy some alcohol, most of which we drank on street corners out of our water bottles.. after 5 days i was def ready to hit the road again..
